Came across this unusual H&K MP5 flashlight mount, and knew that I had seen similar ones before. Using some Google Fu, I came across these pictures. Anyone know who made it or have any other info about it?

As SudS said, hose clamps were very common for flashlight mounts in the 70's and 80's. Whilst it looks crude, it's far from a hack-job and was obviously produced in numbers, based on the fact I found pics of two different tactical teams using them with 5 mins of searching. Tried it on an MP5 and it fits well.

Back in the day, most flashlight attachments were assembled from stuff around the shop or the hardware store. Even the few “factory” made mounts looked more like someone was tinkering around their garage. Even Surefire used hose clamps for some of their lights and their SD suppressor attachment. Those pics look normal for something from the 70’s.

I find it very innovative myself. Back in the day you made sh!t that would work. These guys and their pioneering is why we have the cool stuff that is now just expected to be standard. These guys and those like em made the standard. LAPD has and continues to have its own armory. Outside the box thinking isnt new for the LE tac world or really for the MIL for that matter. Anybody remember seein redneck up armored trucks early Iraq? Hey beats nuthin at all 🙂

Any chance we can get in touch somehow? Can't send PM for some reason. I have some questions regarding this mount. Please PM me if you can. Thank you very much.

I don’t know if I’m allowed to say so, but if anyone is seeking to acquire a base for this B-Square Maglite Hk mount that’s in far far nicer condition than the banged up one in the pics above, I’ll be happy to go locate it in my parts storage If you need it for theatrical/retro purposes.
