You listed the 9’s benefits (left out the Jet funnel though and you said capacity but some forget you can go up to 30rd OEM. You may remember that, many do not. Could matter to you). The only thing that you might prefer is just the larger grip of the .45 fitting you better.
I’ll ignore the compulsion to argue one caliber is “better” than the other. If you haven’t made up your mind on that, I wouldn’t make it up on a gun forum.
Whatever you like they are both excellent and have similar design limitations due largely to their era but that’s only compared to other guns not to each other.

 

Have Both carry Both . The decision is yours to make . Obviously 45acp cost more to shoot . 😎

 

The 45 is a good suppressor host since "standard" 230gr is subsonic. 45 used to be a bigger deal 1 or 2 decades ago due to 2 major factors:

1. AWB expired. While in effect, producers were focused on larger calibers with lower capacity due to laws.
2. Technology of 9mm bullets have improved ballistics as of late.

I personally love 45. I have 4 HK handguns in 45 and a UMP45. Although I find myself shooting the 9mm ones a lot more in the last decade.

 

The grip of the USP 9 never agreed with me for some reason. Tried it on three separate occasions and ended up selling it each time. I prefer the P30 for 9mm.
USP 45 is a different story. Fits my hand better and I can shoot it extremely well.

 

I mean, if we’re talking standard cap magazines, I don’t think there’s a big difference between 12 and 15 rds. The only real benefit is cost of ammo is cheaper in a 9mm platform.

I haven’t shot a full size USP 9 (just a compact), and I personally think the USP 45 kicks really soft…like 9mm soft.

 

So for reference. I’ve owned almost a dozen usps through the years at this point, some 45 but most 9mm. I never go without a jet funnel kit and 18 round mags in the 9mm. And I also never go without Trijicon HDs and ambi control levers (I’m a lefty, I love the V1, and having an ambi control completely eliminates the possibility of decocking the pistol on draw because there’s no way to send that safety lever through your palm with a proper grip). I’ve always let the USPs go to try something else, and I end up going damn, it’s not a usp (this included staccato) and sell and rebuy and the cycle just continues viciously. But here I am with a standard usp 9 again, 18 + 1 rounds, Trijicon HDs, gray guns SRT, TLR7 and so on, and I’m just thinking to myself man. I love this gun, but the grip, after owning the 45, is NOT the same as the 9mm and feels that much better. So I’m stuck thinking about yanking some add ons and selling my 9mm to fund a 45. And that is where we (or at least I) are gentlemen

 

That's a tough one. Obviously, you can do more with the 9mm version-jet funnel, higher cap mags,etc. and it is cheaper to shoot. However, the .45 USP is a really nice gun and recoil is not that bad.

 

I have both a USP45 and a USP40; I believe the USP40 and 9 are dimensionally identical with respect to the frame. The USP45 is noticeably thicker. The G21 vs G17 comparison is fair but perhaps not quite as striking on the USP platform.
