So am I under the right line of thinking that the third hole on the receiver is acceptable by the ATF now as long as the Trigger Housing is Clipped and Pinned/Cut off and rests on the No-No Shelf?
I'm not actually sure because I'd like to swap a clipped and pinned one on there, I think it would be fine but who knows what the ATF's thinking is on this. I was always told it couldn't be a completely through hole for the paddle/pin.

Yeah well I see these with the hole for the paddle mag latch, and I've seen a ton of MP5 clones with the same hole and paddle mag latch, but they all still have the blocking shelf.

Two of my friends got CA3s. One is crooked, but runs. The other does not appear to be crooked, but has had about 10% FTEs so far. The crooked one had a refinished trigger housing. The non refinished one looks to be in decent shape though.

I’ve never been able to find a letter for it, but PTR has been leaving their mag release pins unwelded for a while.

How crooked is the one that runs? Can you still zero it?

I was considering a CA3, but it still sounds like some are slipping through the cracks, even though PTR is doing the majority of the work.

For some reason, I thought they had initially said the price would be around $700, but I don't recall where I heard that.

What I really wanted was a MKE factory-built G3 that was rumored to be coming here - but never did.

I have a Century Cetme C308 that I completely rebuilt/refinished, and it had no major issues, but I may have just been lucky.

What did you all do on your C308?

You are correct it does not have the little mount piece in front of the sight base but still has the bump outs to add a pictatinny style mount.
Those bumps are not enough to ensure the optic holds zero. The missing weldment is actually a recoil lug, without it there is nothing preventing the optic mount from shifting front and back between shots.

That is excellent information thank you. I was mistaken I guess if I really want I can bust out the tig torch at work and add the correct sight base. We will have to see how it shoots first.

All the PTR Components are trunnion, barrel, flash hider, receiver, hammer, sear and charging handle. Everything else is surplus FMP or HK in the case of my bolt.
What thread pitch is the muzzle on the CA-3?
Metric or inch?
I am guessing inch, RH 5/8X24.
Could be metric, RH 15X1.
Thanks for letting me know the rifling is 1 in 10 for the M-80 NATO round.
