Im just happy to finally get a genuine a5 barrel nut and the long arm selectors for my a7 clone. Maybe I'm in the minority but if you want a HK416 you need to build a clone anyway, and that includes an american chrome lined barrel.
nah man they want it out of the box capable of shooting full auto with a 3D printed DIAS

I am curious though. What’s the real reason HK USA didn’t chrome line them when they know that almost everybody wanted it?

Was it cost?

Did HKO tell them they weren’t allowed to?
AFAIK the barrels come over from Germany as blanks (there are reasons for this that might not be something for discussion here) and are finished in the US. I would guess that HK USA doesn't have the necessary capabilities to chrome-line in-house and is reluctant to outsource that process as it is not as easy as some seem to assume here and might actually be really detrimental to precision if not done right. Having outsourced something like this might cause more problems (like QC and availability of good product) than it would solve.

Which obviously isn't true.

But it shows that not everybody sees the a gun as a tool that is designed for a certain use and that those use requirements can differ for different use cases. :confused2:
Yes, there are certainly tools where 2MOA+ is acceptable.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

100% but that will never be admitted. No shame in it.

I dont have a problem with that either. But if that's what they were expecting from HK they must be following a different company. I actually agree with a lot of the dissent, thats why I personally build clones. But I absolutely will never expect HK to build these rifles with m16 pockets and chrome lined barrels.

HK-USA told us we would be getting innovative new firearms targeting the US market. Personally, the upgrades in the MRA4 are nice, but they are not innovative. Good/bad/indifferent, the US market wants chrome lined barrels. With the CC9, which is nice but again not innovative and an updated MR, it seems the only differentiator from the current firearms already on the market in the US is a big ass HK on the side of these.

Yeah, the negative attitude he was receiving on this thread was a bit ridiculous; it definitely felt like shooting the messenger, especially since he was actively trying to engage with us. If we wonder why HK doesn’t listen to us, it’s because of reactions like that. Fortunately, James is well-established here, and I don’t think he’ll take it too personally. But can you imagine if that were someone new to HK, trying to engage with our community for the first time? They’d never come back.

Being an HK fan means having to be patient, patient with product development, product launches, and product availability. We need to extend that same patience to James. I believe he will advocate on our behalf, not only to help HK USA be more successful but also because he genuinely cares about our community.
We NEED Social Media Girl to come back to beat us and tell us we're not worthy.

"She" probably looked like Flip in real life.

As sure as everyone is "Sub-MOA all day long...when I do my part (shooting m855 out of junk tube)"....
As sure as if something exists, there's p0rn of it....
Unless it's proven otherwise, assume anybody that says they're a "chick" is a dude.

It’s not reasonable for a company to manufacture a gun that is readily convertible to full automatic, especially when it’s not legal to do so. ATF had a say in this too.

If they made it so all you had to do was put in a three position selector, and it was rock ‘n’ roll time via slam fire or a DIAS, they would veto the design.

Why do you feel like that’s a valid complaint?
Umm... did that

Grind away extension tab, add 416BCG, swap safety axel and drop in a DIAS... voila

1.03 MOA...TEN SHOT groups.

So it's STILL not chrome lined, which almost made me turn off the video.

BUT, if the claim that barrel life is at least 12k rounds while maintaining MOA accuracy, AND IF the claim that they'll replace your barrel for life if you shoot them out is true....

Does the fact that it's not chrome lined even matter anymore? Unless you are a diehard cloner....this seems like a win?

A minority that yells the loudest is still the minority.

If you don't think HK or HKUSA did extensive market research on features the general public wants, and if you think the lack of a CL barrel will tank the sales of this.....I gotta chuckle.

The fact is most people aren't hardcore cloners. This thing will sell. FWIW I also think it was a misstep to not chrome line the barrel, it's not like chrome lining it would turn anyone away.

If their claim about it lasting 12k rounds with 1 MOA accuracy is correct, then I personally don't give a **** if it's CL or not. At that point functionality wise it makes no difference to me, and CL is just a psychological feature check. I'm not a hardcore cloner, I always thought cloning was a bit weird. Your rifle can't be full-auto so it'll never be 100% correct.
